The latest venture of Jingxing Holdings (Malaysia) Co., Ltd., a new pulp and paper manufacturing base established in Selangor, Malaysia, marks a significant milestone in the paper production industry and provides an excellent demonstration of the power of Building Information Modeling (BIM).

Mimar’s team played a vital role in this complex project. Utilizing BIM at Level of Development (LOD) 400, we produced detailed models that ensured accurate execution during the construction phase of this expansive facility.

A key element of our contribution to this project was BIM coordination. The comprehensive coordination encompassed the architectural, structural, and MEP components of the paper manufacturing plant, which included a pulp mill, finishing plant, warehouse, wastewater treatment plant, and a power plant. This intensive coordination ensured seamless workflow integration and efficient project execution.

One of the critical challenges Mimar successfully addressed in this project was clash detection and analysis. Using BIM, potential design conflicts between different aspects of the building were identified and mitigated before the actual construction, saving valuable resources and preventing potential delays.

Another challenge in this project was the coordination of the factory’s MEP equipment with VE steel structures. Using BIM, we were able to accurately plan and integrate these components, ensuring the smooth operation of the manufacturing equipment within the constraints of the building structure.

To further enhance the project management process, Mimar adopted a 4D control and planning methodology. This strategy allowed us to visualize the progress of construction over time, providing accurate insights into project milestones, facilitating resource planning, and helping us manage the project schedule more efficiently.

With a gross floor area of 200,000 sqm, the Jingxing Paper project stands as a testament to the power of BIM in managing and executing large-scale industrial projects.
