At Mimar, we are proud to share our latest work on the Techo Takhmao International Airport, a landmark project set to become the world’s 9th largest airport, placing us at the forefront of transportation infrastructure development. This ambitious project, currently under construction in the Kandal province of Cambodia, promises to revolutionize the country’s aviation industry, further reinforcing our commitment to building structures of an international standard.

Spanning a colossal area of 2,600,000 sqm, the airport is set to feature two runways, a passenger terminal, a cargo terminal, and an array of other facilities. Upon its expected completion in 2025, the airport is designed to supplant the existing Phnom Penh International Airport as Cambodia’s main aviation hub.

Our role in the development of this $1.5 billion project encompasses an array of services, all aimed at ensuring the successful execution of this complex infrastructure project. From the onset, we have applied our advanced BIM capabilities to the project, providing a comprehensive, multidisciplinary model of the airport.

At an LOD 600 level, we have modeled everything from the intricate architectural and structural elements of the terminal building to the vast, carefully engineered runways. This high level of detail has enabled precise coordination and planning, eliminating potential clashes and conflicts before construction, and ensuring a smoother, more efficient build.

Our involvement extends beyond design and coordination. We’ve provided detailed drawings for all construction components, facilitating clear and accurate communication amongst the construction team. Moreover, with the implementation of 4D scheduling and 5D cost estimation, we’ve been able to ensure rigorous project control, guiding the construction process towards on-time and on-budget completion.

Post-construction, we’ll develop an as-built model, providing a detailed digital representation of the completed airport for future reference and management. Furthermore, we are also involved in the provision of 7D Facility Management, which will aid the efficient, long-term operation and maintenance of the airport.
