The construction of the Foreign Trade Bank of Cambodia’s (FTB) new headquarters, the FTB Tower, showcases the benefits of utilizing advanced Building Information Modeling (BIM) strategies in large-scale development projects. With our involvement, Mimar played a key role in ensuring the successful execution of the FTB Tower project, demonstrating our proficiency in BIM coordination.

The construction of the FTB Tower involved the integration of architectural, structural, and MEP components through BIM coordination at the Level of Development (LOD) 450. This level of development enabled highly detailed BIM models that could be effectively used for fabrication, assembly, and later for operations and maintenance, reflecting the as-constructed asset accurately.

Through our comprehensive clash detection and analysis, we were able to identify and rectify potential design conflicts at an early stage, thereby saving significant amounts of time and cost associated with post-construction alterations. We also created coordination drawings that played a vital role in facilitating the smooth progress of the construction, reducing errors, and ensuring that every component was built as planned.

In addition, we utilized a 4D control and planning methodology in the FTB Tower project. This involved integrating time-related information into the BIM model, allowing for improved project scheduling and providing a clear visualization of the project timeline. This approach greatly improved the efficiency of project management and made progress tracking more effective.

The FTB Tower, with a gross floor area of 77,593 sqm, consists of 28 floors and demonstrates the successful implementation of BIM in large-scale construction projects. Located in the heart of Phnom Penh’s business center, the FTB Tower represents a significant achievement for both FTB and Mimar, and it stands as a testament to our commitment to pushing the boundaries of BIM technologies in construction and design.
