Bimwedo signs MOU with China Construction YangTze River (CCYR) as exclusive software provider

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia – Bimwedo is pleased to announce the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with China Construction YangTze River (CCYR), a wholly owned subsidiary of China State Construction Engineering Corporation Ltd. (CSCEC), a Fortune Global 500 company, to become the sole provider of Building Information Modeling (BIM) and construction project management software solutions to the multi-national company’s operations.

As per the MOU, Bimwedo will provide CCYR with custom software and cloud solutions to support the smooth and efficient management of their international real estate construction projects. Through this exclusive partnership, Bimwedo’s cutting edge expertise in BIM technology will contribute directly to CCYR’s efforts to digitally transform its construction processes, minimise waste, increase sustainability, and gain comprehensive oversight of current and future construction projects. This agreement with China’s largest state-run construction company marks a key milestone in Bimwedo’s use-case and implementation potential at an advanced scale.

CCYR’s past projects include Malaysian landmarks such as GDS Data Centre in Johor, AT&S Hightech Factory in Kulim, FTB Tower in Cambodia and the new Phnom Penh International Airport in Cambodia. The strategic ties between Bimwedo and CCYR align with the recent Malaysia-China agreement to enhance trade and economic cooperation between the two nations, signed by Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and China Premier Li Qiang in early April 2023. CCYR’s large track record and projected long-term presence in the Asia-Pacific region will provide Bimwedo with heightened exposure to local and international projects. Simultaneously, Bimwedo’s agility and technological solutions will give CCYR an unprecedented level of control over the development of user-oriented solutions for the management of their large-scale construction projects.

The collaboration also solidifies 3D model-based process BIM software as the future of real estate technology. Bimwedo director Ravi Kumar is highly optimistic about the company’s potential: “While BIM software is still in its early days in the Southeast Asia region, we’re confident that our approach will bridge the uptake gap to catch up with adoption in mature markets such as the United States and Europe. Our mission has always been to design accessible, user-friendly tools that eliminate the need for complex software and steep learning curves. It carries all the advantages of being cost effective, cloud-based, user-oriented and mobile accessible. With major conglomerates like CCYR coming on board, the demand for BIM will be seeing a much-anticipated upswing amongst global players in the near future. Bimwedo intends to facilitate the mass adoption of BIM by showing them just how easy it can be.”

“We are extremely excited to work on the implementation of BIM software through this collaboration between Bimwedo and CCYR. This adoption will allow us to contribute to many public and private construction projects across Malaysia and the region, including landmark marquee projects,” said Wen Wen, the Technical Director of CCYR. “Our exclusive relationship is foundational in solidifying the value Bimwedo can bring to construction projects and companies, no matter where they are.”

Bimwedo is a Malaysia-based firm specializing in the development of real estate technology solutions, with a focus on Building Information Modeling (BIM) software. Bimwedo’s mission is to design accessible technology that eliminates the need for complex BIM software, enabling a holistic integration of the planning, construction, and facility management processes in the lifecycle of any building project.

Where the last generation of BIM software such as Autodesk spearheaded the shift from paper drafting to computer modeling, APG believes that Bimwedo’s platform represents the next revolution in the real estate planning field. Bimwedo’s proprietary technology allows Architect, Engineer, and Construction (AEC) professionals to generate sophisticated 3D and hyper-realistic renderings, speedup their project life cycles, and eliminate bureaucratic paperwork processes that lead to waste and delays.

Bimwedo’s web-based platform is built from the ground up to be non-expert user friendly. This approach democratizes BIM into a much more accessible tool, reducing the need for specialists, expensive hardware, and brings down the cost of adoption of this fundamental technology. Clients will also have access to ready-to-use cloud-based services specifically engineered for collaboration between stakeholders of different disciplines, to conduct project management without the need for complex training.

The decision to collaborate with Bimwedo is in line with APG’s ongoing commitment to bring efficiency, value, and innovation into the real estate industry. With 15 years of experience as an architecture technologist, Bimwedo’s founder and CEO, Mohammed Hamada, has capitalized on his extensive industry knowledge to create a company that can forge innovative paths for collaboration between AEC professionals and their clients. As a pioneer of BIM in the Asia region, Mohammed has a distinguished track record of successfully leading the implementation of BIM in architectural and construction firms, while overseeing projects in his capacity as the Head of the BIM Department in China State Construction (CSCEC) in Southeast Asia.

“We’re at the cusp of a new age of digitization for the real estate industry,” says Mohamed. “As labor and material costs continue to rise, efficiency is going to be the cornerstone of how the industry will survive and thrive. Our solution tackles that issue head on, both in terms of planning or processes.”

Ravi Kumar, APG principal and Bimwedo director, says, “We’ve seen firsthand how Bimwedo’s software can be a game changer for how we plan, collaborate, and develop projects. This form of project management software is part of the next wave of industry standard tools that will transform the industry which will bring with it more transparency, speed, and convenience. Across the world, we’re already seeing the demand for BIM in large scale projects, but adoption has been hindered by cost and the lack of expertise. Bimwedo can be the solution to these  fundamental uptake barriers. With APG’s support, we are confident that mass adoption is in our future.”

Bimwedo’s current international portfolio of clients range from residential properties in Malaysia to mixed development projects in Saudi Arabia. The partnership with APG will enable Bimwedo to accelerate its growth, while bringing increased efficiency and convenience to real estate projects worldwide.
